Squaw’s Wanderlust Yoga Studio Offers New Workshops this Fall

Squaw Valley’s new yoga studio gets creative in helping yogis stay fit

[Olympic Valley, Calif.] October 11, 2013 - Squaw Valley’s new Wanderlust Yoga Studio will be hosting several new workshops throughout October and November. The new classes will incorporate unique elements including live music, yoga under a full moon, and cross-training classes to help participants prepare for skiing and snowboarding. For those who have never practiced yoga, the studio is also offering a class specifically designed for beginners which will teach participants the basics in order to build a strong and sustainable yoga foundation.

Full Moon Yoga Flow: October 19
Celebrate the full moon amid Squaw’s serene landscape at Full Moon Yoga Flow. Instructor Meg McCraken will lead participants through an invigorating full-moon flow yoga practice including moon salutations, hip openers and arm balances. Musician Aaron Oropeza will accompany the class with inspirational, live music. The class is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and costs $25.


Inner Wisdom: November 1-2
Inner Wisdom, taught by Dana Damaras, is a series of three classes each emphasizing a different aspect of soul empowerment.  The first class, Inner Wisdom Flow, is November 1 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The yoga class will be followed by a book signing. The second class, Take the Passion Test, is Saturday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to noon and includes both yoga and a lecture. The final class, Chakra Flow, is November 2 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Cost for the classes is $122 for all three sessions, or $44 per session.


Challenge Series: November 1-30
Yogis looking to expand their practice can sign up for the November Yoga Challenge. The Challenge consists of 15 classes in 30 days to invigorate both the body and mind. Participants who successfully complete the challenge will receive prizes including entry into the Grand Prize Raffle which includes a 4-day Sage Pass to Wanderlust Yoga Festival 2014. The Wanderlust Yoga Studio offers discounts for season passholders and introductory discounts. Locals can get their first monthly pass for just $30. The Challenge begins November 1.


X-Train for Skiers and Snowboarders: November 5-26
Skiers and snowboarders can get in shape for the upcoming winter season with the new Yoga X-Train for Skiers and Snowboarders workshop. The three-week yoga course is specifically designed to get participants ready for the ski and snowboard season by boosting endurance and flexibility, as well as focus and mental fortitude. The hour-long classes, taught by Meg McCraken, will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:45 a.m. The entire three-week workshop costs only $80.


Yoga 101: November 5 to December 12
Yoga 101 is the perfect place to start for those new to yoga. The 6-week course will help participants learn the basics by providing a strong foundation for a healthy, sustainable yoga practice. Yoga 101 participants will be guided by instructor, Jon Von Roo, while being offered the opportunity to explore yoga with other students at the same level.  Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. (excluding Thanksgiving Day). The cost for the workshop is $130.


Thanksgiving Day Yoga: November 28
Participants can rev up their metabolism before their Thanksgiving feast with this hour and a half fun flow class coupled with upbeat and inspiring tunes. In addition to challenging the body, participants will be asked to focus on finding deeper gratitude and expressing thanks.  The class, taught Jamie Ebert, is from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and costs $25.


Metta Moving Meditation Workshop: November 29
The Metta Moving Meditation Workshop combines yoga with meditation to help participants find clarity and peace. The class, taught by Megan McCraken, will also include live music. The workshop is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and costs $25.
