Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows Launch "Bucks for Barks"

Squaw and Alpine launch program to raise money for the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe

[Olympic Valley and Tahoe City, Calif.] February 20, 2012 - Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are pleased to announce their new “Bucks for Barks” program. The program, which commenced today, February 20, gives guests the option of donating $1 or more to the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe whenever they make a purchase on-site or at either resort’s online store.

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is a local organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoption, community spay/neuter services and humane education programs. The funds will go towards the Humane Society’s capital project that is working towards building a new shelter, as well as helping to cover operating costs that allow the non-profit to take in hundred of homeless animals each year.

“The money raised through the Bucks and Barks Program will go a long way in our efforts to help lost and abandoned animals in our community,” said Stephanie Jensen, executive director of the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. “We are extremely grateful to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows for their amazing support and unwavering dedication to helping save the lives of homeless pets.”

“The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and the results of their good work are clearly near and dear to the staff at both Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley, as well as to all of our guests,” said Andy Wirth, Squaw Valley’s president and CEO. “This is also a group in need, so it’s our hope that the generous donations of our guests, coupled with our previous support, substantively helps this organization on their capital project funding efforts and brings attention to their very current, real needs.”
