Housing

Each team member is responsible for his/her own housing. Most of our employees find places to live by checking online sources such as Craigslist, the local newspapers, contacting the local rental agency (Housing Connection), looking at bulletin boards and networking with other ski area employees.

Finding a place to live can be challenging.  Your housing search will be easier if you are able to arrive or contact potential housing early.  If possible, we strongly suggest that you plan to obtain housing sometime before Thanksgiving.

Lake Tahoe Housing

Tips on finding housing in Lake Tahoe:

  • Most housing requires first and last month’s rents, plus a security deposit.
  • An average one bedroom studio apartment can rent from $650 - $1000 a month. Homes and cabins can rent from $1000-$2200+ a month.
  • Some of the areas you will want to consider are Truckee, Lake Tahoe North Shore (Incline Village to Tahoe City) Kings Beach, Tahoe City, or the West Shore of Lake Tahoe (Tahoe City to Tahoma).
  • All employees are able to ride TART (the local public bus) to work at Squaw or Alpine for free.  TART runs from Incline Village on the east shore, Tahoma on the west shore, and Truckee.

Recommended places to search:

Motels:

There are a few motels on the north shore of Lake Tahoe that offer discounts to ski area employees and short term housing.
