Squaw Valley picked up another 14 inches yesterday which brought the 4 day total to 34 inches as of Thursday morning. It also brought the total for March to 166 inches! That means more snow has fallen in the month of March than had fallen all season through the end of February.
After a break on Friday the snow will return Saturday as a strong cold front moves through. Currently it looks like 8-12 inches possible at the base and up to 18 inches up top through Saturday night. There could be a little rain at the base Saturday morning before the snow levels drop with the cold front.
It looks like the snow showers could last into Sunday with a few more inches possible. After a break to start the week it looks like we will see another system Wednesday with light snowfall. The question is what happens after that?
Some of the forecast models bring in a strong system Thursday and then show a cut-off low spinning down the coast through the weekend of the 7th. That would bring light snow through the period with several more inches possible. Other models show the Thursday system staying to our North, and then keep the cut-off low off the coast with it not coming inland until possibly the following week.
After we get the through snow this weekend we should have a better idea what will happen with the storms for next week. BA
