We finally have snow within the 5 day window. We started tracking the possibility of snow for the 7th - 10th of January about 10 days ago.
Some forecast models show a weak wave of precip moving through Tuesday, Wednesday, & againg Thursday with a few inches possible with each. Three day totals of several inches up to a foot for the mountain. Other forecast models show a wave Tuesday and then another Thursday and Friday. So light amounts is what it looks like right now but we'll take it!
Some forecast models rebuild the ridge off the coast by the end of next week pushing the storm track back to the North. Other models keep the ridge far enough offshore to allow more systems to move through with light snow going into next weekend. Let's hope for the latter.
Looking at the long-range ensemble runs some of the forecast models keep the ridge near the West Coast week 2 keeping us dry. Other runs show the ridge further offshore with the chance for some colder air to move down from the North. Still no big storms on the horizon, but we'll keep watching. Still hoping that maybe the MJO will play a part in our weather pattern later in the month.
