Some of the mildest weather of the week will be over the next few days as highs approach 50 degrees. Overnight lows stay cold.
By Wednesday the ridge off the coast is shifting to the North and West and a cold trough drops into the West from the North. This brings a return to colder air and highs below freezing by Thursday into next weekend. We could see a little snow behind the cold front Wednesday night into Thursday. The GFS forecast model has a dusting while the European forecast model has 3-6 inches.
It looks like the ridge may build off the West coast again week 2 keeping us dry through the Christmas holiday. The first sign of a pattern change is at the very end of the month. The recent runs of the climate models have the ridge of high pressure centered over Alaska in January with storms underneath into the West Coast. The outlook is much wetter for January.
