Good Friday Morning to you. Hope you all had fun yesterday. Today and tomorrow we are going to get some of the warmest weather of the Winter with highs into the 50's and abundant sunshine.
A system will move through to our North Sunday and that will cool us back into the 40's for Sunday and Monday . Then the pattern opens up and a storm will be dropping in from the NW off the Pacific. This will be a cold storm. The jet dynamics and moisture feed will not be ideal for a big storm but with the cold air we could see some decent totals.
Some of the forecast model runs are showing the system digging down the coast a bit more before pushing inland. The GFS still shows as much snowfall potential as we talked about yesterday in the 10-20 inch range for the mountain. The Euro is showing about half of that with the less favorable storm track.
As I have been saying, although the pattern is changing to a more active one overall, none of the systems look significant yet. There will be the chance for another light system on Thursday into Friday and again for next weekend.
The various runs of the European forecast model are pretty consistent with weak systems every 2-3 days moving through. The GFS model is less consistent and has some the of the systems dropping down the coast or brushing us as they move through to our North or South. But overall the pattern looks to remain much more active the next couple of week than what we have been seeing.
The long-range model runs are still showing the ridge centered out South of the Aleutians by the end of the month. That pattern can be one that brings bigger storms to the West Coast. BA
