After 2 Inches of Fresh Snow Quieter Weather Expected for the Holidays /

Submitted by ba December 20, 2013 - 8:01am Weather

The mountain picked up a fresh 2 inches of snow from a cold front moving through on Thursday.  We have much colder air in place behind the front with highs only in the 30's expected for Friday.  Then we expect slightly warmer temps up into the 40's for the weekend and into next week.

A ridge of high pressure has anchored itself off the CA coast and is expected to stay there and keep us dry through the end of the year.

Shifting our focus to January the climate models look much more promising with an increase in storm activity as we head towards mid-month.  Long-range models aren't the most accurate tools, but right now they are forecasting 4-5 feet for the month of January.  That just gives us a hint that January could at least be snowier than any month in 2013, although not overly snowy.  We will have to wait and see as we get closer.

Stay tuned...BA
